The Alma Cornea Ionescu Festival-Competition, now in its 23rd edition, has become a landmark on the cultural and educational map of Romania and Europe, surpassing the Timi\u0219oara area and the DKMT area (an area that includes Serbia, Hungary and the western part of Romania). In the previous edition, online views exceeded 12,000 hits, and radio and TV interviews. As well as appearances in the written media have confirmed the progressive course of this artistic event.<\/p>\n
This year we will be honored by the presence on the jury of Prof. Univ. Dr. Yulius Papadopoulus (Director of the State Conservatory, Thessaloniki, Greece), Prof. Szigmond Gabor (Director of the Szeged Music High School, Hungary), pianist Natsumi Kuboyama (Japan), Prof. Erato Alakiozidou and prof. Dr. Aida Marc (Faculty of Music and Theatre, <\/span>Timisoara), Prof. Dr. Dorgo Madalina (Head of Piano Department, \u201cIon Vidu\u201d Art High School, Timisoara) and Prof. Peter Tradnik (teacher, pianist, \u201cIon Vidu\u201d Art High School, Timisoara).<\/p>\n \n [\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][et_pb_column type=”1_2″ _builder_version=”4.16″ custom_padding=”|||” global_colors_info=”{}” custom_padding__hover=”|||”][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.25.1″ text_font=”||||||||” header_font=”||||||||” module_alignment=”center” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n Throughout its 22 editions, the “Alma Cornea Ionescu” International Festival – Competition has proven its necessity and usefulness in the artistic training of student pianists, many of the winners of this competition being today piano teachers with beautiful results, who enroll their students in the competition, students at music faculties in Romania and abroad, or established artists whom we can follow on concert stages.<\/p>\n The activity of improving the skills of pianist students is continuous and is carried out intensively every day within music schools. After the conclusion of the XXII edition of the “Alma Cornea Ionescu” International Piano Festival and Competition, students and teachers will be able to use in their work the experience gained during the competition as well as the scientific notions offered by the jury members during the conferences, recitals and masterclasses offered free of charge throughout the event. A compus renumitele opusuri, cu caracter didactic, destinate cu predilec\u021bie copiilor (Din lumea copiilor, Mici piese pentru tineret, Metod\u0103 de pian, 22 piese mici pentru copii<\/em>), de pe care aproape orice copil dornic s\u0103 deprind\u0103 tainele pianului, va face primele lec\u021bii.<\/p>\n She began his musical studies at the “Fodor” Conservatory in Budapest (1912-1916), with Antal Siklos (music theory, harmony) and Dr. Sandor Kovacs (piano) as his teachers. Between 1924 and 1927, he continued his studies at the Cluj Conservatory with professors Traian Vulpescu (theory-solfegiu), Mar\u021bian Negrea (harmony, counterpoint, musical forms), Augustin Bena (theory-solfegiu, acoustics, musical aesthetics), Ana Voileanu-Nicoar\u0103 (piano) and Jean Bobescu (chamber music).<\/p>\n Between 1928 and 1931 he studied at the Akademie fur Musik un Darstellende Kunst in Vienna with Paul de Conne (piano), at the Konservatorium f\u00fcr Musik and at the Internationales Pianisten Seminar in Vienna, with Leo Sirota (piano), Anton Ruzitska (chamber music) and Anton Webern (musical forms). She attended courses in music history and piano pedagogy at the Internationale Hochschulkursen der Universitat in Vienna (1930-1931).<\/p>\n For over twenty years (1922-1946) she was a piano teacher at the Municipal Conservatory of Timi\u0219oara, then (1946-1949) at the Conservatory of Music and Dramatic Art in Timi\u0219oara, at the Institute of Arts in Timi\u0219oara (1949-1950) and at the Music High School in Timi\u0219oara (1950-1962), where starting in 1951 she was the first director of this institution. She was a university lecturer (1959-1964) and associate professor (1964-1968) at the 3-Year Pedagogical Institute in Timi\u0219oara. A street in Timi\u0219oara bears the name of Alma Cornea-Ionescu. In 1672, Empress Maria Theresa emphasized the importance of music, ordering through an Imperial instruction that each village should have “a teacher who, in addition to music, should also be skilled in reading and writing.” The existence of music schools attached to monasteries in Banat is documented from 1683.<\/p>\n The vocational school of artistic profile, the “Ion Vidu” Art High School in Timi\u0219oara, has its origins in the rich and long-standing musical tradition of Timi\u0219oara. The municipal council approved on October 30, 1906, the establishment of the Municipal Conservatory, which from 1909 had its headquarters at 1 Emanoil Ungureanu Street. Between 1946-1948 it functioned as the Conservatory of Music and Dramatic Art, and between 1948-1950 as an Art Institute of higher education, led by composer Sabin Dr\u0103goi. In 1950 it was transformed into a Technical Secondary School of Music, with Professor Alma Cornea-Ionescu and composer Nicolae Ursu as directors, who, together with teachers such as Vasile Ijac, Eugen Cuteanu, and Ella Philipp, worked to rebuild music education, this time on the structure of high school classes. From 1957, the visual arts section was added, thus changing its name to the School of Music and Visual Arts. From 1968 it moved to 12 Cluj Street, to a modern building in a modernist socialist style, equipped with classrooms and individual study rooms, a location where it remains today, with the two sections separating into the “Ion Vidu” Music High School and the Visual Arts High School.<\/p>\n [\/et_pb_text][et_pb_text _builder_version=”4.24.3″ text_font=”||||||||” header_font=”||||||||” max_width=”700px” module_alignment=”center” global_colors_info=”{}”]<\/p>\n Currently, the “Ion Vidu” Art High School offers a variety of specializations: instrumental performance (piano, strings, double bass, brass and woodwind instruments, traditional Romanian instruments, and percussion), classical vocal performance and traditional Romanian vocal art, with the triad completed by the choreography section, established in 1990, and dramatic art, starting in 2000.<\/p>\n The foundation of artistic life consists of extensive participation in concerts, recitals, performances, and masterclasses, serving as a bridge between the training of today’s student and tomorrow’s artist, who works in various local, national, and international cultural institutions.
