Erato Alakiozidou

Erato Alakiozidou is a Greek pianist deeply devoted to contemporary music, having spent more than two decades researching and championing the works of Greek composers of the 20th and 21st centuries. Her commitment has earned her the honour of having renowned contemporary composers dedicate their works to her, resulting in more than 150 world premieres performed under her accomplished interpretation. Her fervour extends to innovative projects, artistic exploration, and educational initiatives, where she masterfully blends the arts with piano performance.

Her contributions to the arts have received exceptional recognition, including distinctions from the Greek Union of Theatre and Music Critics. As a founding member of ensembles and festivals, and through her involvement with the non-profit organisation “beArtive”, she has made substantial contributions to the musical community. Her journey has taken her to prestigious concert halls and festivals across Europe, captivating audiences and earning acclaim. Her performances have been broadcast by state media in Greece, Bulgaria, and Germany.

As a founder of ensembles and festivals, Alakiozidou actively supports musical communities. Her role as a visionary educator at the Thessaloniki State Conservatory, where she heads the Accompaniment Department, and at the Athens Conservatoire underscores her commitment to shaping future musicians. In 2020, she assumed the position of Artistic Director at the Pylaia-Hortiatis Municipal Conservatory, further strengthening her role as a leader in shaping music education.

Alakiozidou’s musical journey began at the State Conservatory of Greece under the guidance of E. Papazoglou, where she obtained a Soloist Diploma with the highest distinction. Her insatiable thirst for learning led her to esteemed pedagogues, culminating in a “Higher Piano Diploma” with top honours. She refined her artistry under the guidance of Brazilian virtuoso Roberto Szidon and other respected mentors. Her comprehensive studies also extend to advanced theoretical fields, earning diplomas in Harmony, Counterpoint, Orchestration, and Fugue through scholarships.

Her influence continues to expand through invitations from music associations to serve on competition juries and to lead masterclasses throughout Europe. Her recordings, available on the labels Subways Music, Ankh Productions, Protasis Productions, Odradek Records, and Da Vinci Records, offer an aural exploration of her diverse repertoire.

In addition, Erato Alakiozidou is a promising doctoral candidate at the University of Aveiro, enrolled in the PhD Programme in Artistic Creation.
